It takes about 6 months for a fingernail and up to 18 months for a toenail to grow back. DailyMailDontStealMyThread Fri 22-Dec-17 191013. But to answer your question that nail may grow back but will most likely be weird for the rest of your life.
As long as your nail bed is not severely injured the re-growing nail will be as perfect as your nail before it was ripped. Fingernails grow at rate of 13 inches per month. Might take a month or longer though depending on how fast your nails grow.
But it grew back fine and if you looked at my nails you wouldnt be able to tell which on it is. The nail doesnt have to grow back before you do but you do want your skin to heal. A new fingernail will take about 4 to 6 months to grow to replace the lost nail.
An no I am not talking about having a nail tip and acrylic done. It has to grow out and attach as it is growing. How is it treated.
This is probably not what you want to hear but if you attempt to place chemicals on top of the injured nail bed you could lose the nail anyway. Thats why I cut the acrylic off as short as I could put hydrogen peroxide and covered it in bandages so like you said it wont catch on anything and lift it anymore. Keep the nail cut back as far as you can to prevent a lever action from lifting the nail as the delicate cells are trying to reattach to the nail bed.
